The Ring of the Nibelung, a gigantic music drama series spanning four evenings, was inspired by Norse sagas and Germanic myths in the imagination of Richard Wagner. Gods, heroes, giants, dwarves, dragons: all seem distant, but the magic of the Ring is that people of all ages discover in its conflicts the problems of their own lives. The Ring is about us! In June 2024, fans can relive the wonder of the Great Work, with international stars on stage and conductor Adam Fischer breathing new life into the world-famous Wagner Days in Budapest.

The first evening tells the story of the fall from grace, as in The Treasure of the Rhine, not only does Alberich steal the ring from the mermaids of the mythical river, but the chief god Wotan proves to be a tattletale, refusing to pay the giants who built the castle of the gods, and then, with the help of the cunning Loge, obtaining the ring from Alberich.
In doing so, he sets in motion a series of tragic events that we see as the beginning of the end, the consequences of a fatal misstep that will lead to the destruction of the world.The Wotan of the performance, the great Danish bass-baritone Johan Reuter, is a long-standing friend of Wagner Day audiences.We welcome back as a good friend one of the biggest stars of the series, the German tenor Christian Franz, who sparkles as Loge. Jochen Schmeckenbecher's Alberich and Jürgen Sacher's Mimé promise moments of conflict. They will be joined on stage by such great Hungarian singers as Zsolt Haja (Donner), Dániel Pataky (Froh), Atala Schöck (Fricka), Lilla Horti (Freia), Erika Gál (Erda), as well as Orsolya Sáfár, Gabriella Fodor and Zsófia Kálnay as the three mermaids. She will be dressed as Fasolt in Sorin Coli.
