Quinteto Astor Piazzolla
After the death of Argentine composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla, considered an ambassador of tango, his widow Laura Escalada Piazzolla created the Astor Piazzolla Foundation with the mission to preserve the maestro's artistic legacy. The Quinteto Astor Piazzolla was founded in 1998 with five outstanding virtuoso musicians who carry on Piazzolla's oeuvre as perfectly as possible and present the sonic landscape of Buenos Aires to the world.
Astor Piazzolla's signature orchestral line-up was a quintet: bandoneon, violin, piano, electric guitar and double bass. From 1960, it was with this line-up that he created and developed the Nuevo Tango sound, which is carried forward by this current quintet, which has already released four albums (including a Latin Grammy-winning LP) and is lavishly preserving his legacy.

Pablo Mainetti (bandoneon), Nicolás Guerschberg (piano), Serdar Geldymuradov (violin), Armando de la Vega (guitar) and Daniel Falasca (double bass) make up the quintet, with Julián Vat as musical director, on a tour that includes the House of Music. Preserving the sound that Piazzolla created, the group has a responsibility to keep alive the vast repertoire of the legendary composer.
In recent years, the group has released four major albums (Revolucionario, Fugata, En 3×4, Triunfal), which contain rich artistic interpretations performed with virtuoso instrumental skill, including both classics and lesser-known works. Piazzolla's fans old and new will get both nostalgic and fresh insights into the master's work.
