WINE TASTINGS

Classic winery: Margit Pincészet

The winery works exclusively with the four main varieties of Somló (sheep's bark, furmint, lime leaf, Italian Riesling). They believe that it is no coincidence that these varieties have spread on the mountain, that the meeting of the varieties and the mountain was fated. They believe that nothing should be taken from the raw material and added to it. Their wines are matured on thick lees after spontaneous fermentation in tanks and in acacia barrels.

Natural winery: the cellar of Laci Jász with the big moustache

Good wines, of course. All of their land is certified organic, and their orange and red wines are made spontaneously, with fermentation on the skins and several months in the skins. They work exclusively with brute physical force, bottling without filtration and usually without clarification and without sulphur.

18.30-19.15 How does an artefact become a public object and a work of art to be exhibited in a museum? | Presentation by Zsolt Petrányi, art historian

In 2021, six committed contemporary art collectors founded the Friends of Contemporary Art Nonprofit Ltd. with the aim of supporting the enrichment of the contemporary collections of the Museum of Fine Arts - Hungarian National Gallery, similar to the organisations that support the acquisitions of the Tate Modern in London and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The curators of the Contemporary and Graphic Art Collection of the Hungarian National Gallery and the International and Graphic Art Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Post-1800 compile an annual list of proposed acquisitions, from which the members of the Society select the works to be purchased.The collaboration is a new form of cooperation between the art collectors and the museum and its curators, unprecedented in Hungary. Zsolt Petrányi, head of the Jelenkori Collection, will present the acquisitions of recent years.

20.00-20.30 Dj Palotai and Év album launch

In connection with the Technocool exhibition, the Hungarian National Gallery 2024 has released two rare recordings of the history of Hungarian electronic pop music. In the 1990s, Zsolt Palotai (Dj Palotai) presented new trends inspiring artists at his parties, while Zsolt Prieger in Szombathely, together with Antal Józig, Szabolcs Prieger and András Pengőre, was already in the late 1980s working with the then newest "western" sound world in his musical experiments.The two limited editions will be of interest to those who are curious about the origins of today's electronic-dominated music world.The album launch will explore the history of how the music was created and listen to special recordings.

Dj Palotai: Break, 2000, Budapest.Zsolt Palotai created a unique soundtrack for András Ravasz's installation at the Kunsthalle in Budapest, entitled Áthallás (Overhearing), which consisted of musical "exhibitions". The abstract, ambient mixfragments create a special atmosphere by not consisting of coherent melodies, but compositions formed from interconnected associations, a fabric of musical details.

Év: Palomar, 1989-1990, Szombathely (Antal Józig, Szabolcs Prieger, Zsolt Prieger, András Pengőre)

Zsolt Prieger's (Anima Sound System) first musical formation. Év was formed ahead of many Hungarian electronic music experiments, and distributed on cassette tape the demo material that has just been released. As a multimedia concept, the music would have accompanied a theatre project, but as independent compositions it also stood its ground in the search for new possibilities in music.

Beyond the date, what does "Hungarian art after 1945" mean? Can the art of the different generations be strung together on an imaginary thread, can they build on each other? How many threads run alongside each other and which intertwine? What are the common features and what are the completely individual characteristics that make each artist unmistakable? How many different ways can we look at and explain each work, and what do we like now? Under the guidance of the subjective duo of Tünde Topor and Nóra Winkler, we will not only listen to their dialogue, but also to the dialogue between the image and its viewer: the works speak to us in different voices, just like conversations between friends; they can be intimate, painful or outrageously funny.

In the history of art in the following hundred years, we encounter more and more brilliant and significant female creators who often not only stirred up domestic waters but also achieved great success abroad. In 1825, János László Pyrker's epic poem in German, consisting of 12 songs, was published and illustrated with five paintings by Biedermeier painter Josef Danhauser. The series was brought to the Museum of Fine Arts as part of the Pyrker Picture Gallery and is now on show in the context of the cabinet exhibition The Relationship between Text and Image in the Heroic Epic of Rudolf von Habsburg.
