Schedule
Tom Waits' brilliant songs, music and madness will be interpreted by one of the world's finest soul-blues singers, Ian Siegal, as well as Ripoff Raskolnikov, Mischa Den Haring, Varga Lívius, Varga Laca, Frenk and Szabolcs Nagy.
The band started out as a one-off tribute, performing for the first time at the A38 almost 20 years ago on Tom Waits' birthday. The concert was such an overwhelming success - both with the audience and the participants - that the group has repeated it every year since. The members are all great admirers of the master. What makes this production stand out from other tribute bands is that most of the participants are songwriters and performers of similar quality in their own right. London's Ian Siegal is widely regarded as one of the most talented white soul-blues singers (Tom Waits himself praised him for a record that somehow fell into his hands), while Graz-based Ripoff Raskolnikov has been a regular on the local scene for over twenty years and is one of the best songwriters in central Europe. Mischa den Haring is the frontman of the best Dutch roots-rock band T-99, Livius Varga made his name as a member of Quimby, while founding member Frenk of Hyperkarma has a rich solo career. Last but not least, pianist Szabolcs Nagy is probably the best Hungarian blues pianist.
