Under the Surface's unique improvisational language penetrates beneath the surface with a curious blend of jazz, electronic music and traditional music. Their music takes the listener on wings, transporting them, as in a dream, first to the heights of euphoric moments and then to the darkest, most testing corners of the human soul.

After two albums of free improvisations, the band has just released its third album of compositions, Miin Triuwa, on which the musicians create their own "folk music" by exploring their own backgrounds. Since its formation in 2016, Under the Surface has played over 200 concerts in 25 countries and 4 continents, where its members have explored many cultures, but now they have decided to look inwards instead of around the world, and reflect on their own musical roots with compositions by guitarist Bram Stadhouders. The band has always strived to find the universal core of different cultures; for Miin Triuwa, this connecting element is the medieval Old Dutch language, which Sanne Rambags has immersed herself in with the help of linguists to resurrect in the lyrics.
