j(A)zz! - MIT Trio

The trio's name is short for Music in Touch, and together with the title of their debut album (Breezes from here and there), it immediately gives away the band's agenda: they approach music primarily as a means of cross-cultural exchange and dialogue. This is immediately apparent in the line-up, which combines the tempered piano and the oud, which can also play quarter tones, as is common in Europe. In addition to traditional playing styles, Saleh sometimes indulges in rock riffs, while Cech expands the jazz harmonic language with the world of the macam. The result is a musical world that is easy to embrace, yet far removed from the fads.
