Korhan Futaci (TR)

His self-titled project, which has expanded into a quartet, combines traditional Turkish music with free improvisation, which is thus always imbued with the air of Anatolia. In his compositions, he uses energetic moods, dark undertones and abstract textures to transform the bustling chaos of Istanbul into an absorbing, almost ritualistic musical experience. The colourful resonances also serve to transport Futacı and his fellow musicians beyond the boundaries of time and space.
