Scandinavian crime fiction - perhaps one of the strongest buzzwords in the last decade if you're thirsty for crime stories! Icelandic writer Yrsa Sigurðardóttir's Last Ritual has been translated into over 30 languages, and her crime and thriller series, her horror novels are unputdownable for their suspenseful plot twists and character-driven writing style. The crime series by Thora Gudmundsdottir or the volumes following the investigations and romance of Freyja and Huldar, as well as the slower-paced, depressing The Prey, bring us closer to the mystical Icelandic landscapes, the cold and mysterious atmosphere. This year's guest at PesText will be Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, who, as well as winning the Icelandic Crime Fiction Prize in 2011, works as a civil engineer and writes children's books.
