Sometimes their explosive ensemble could be matched by a metronome, at other times they deliberately lose their way in the murky blur of the unknown. Full of acerbic dissonances and sinister riffs, their fickle compositions are fuelled by DIY spirit. Their anarchic, joyous debut album, 2017's Fill Up Your Lungs and Bellow, is a chemical chain reaction, according to All About Jazz, and their 2019 EP Get The Keys is a joyous summer through the night their car was nearly stolen, instrument and musicianship intact. Their most daring album to date is Not Blue Light (2020), which lurches from fear to adrenaline rush to relief to bewilderment. Not content to bubble with ideas, the members of Taupe put surprise above any definitive sound.
