Route 66 - 66 years of Benkó Dixieland Band
Founded in 1957, the Benkó Dixieland Band celebrates its 66th birthday this year. The star guest of the evening will be the leader of the Hot Jazz Band, trumpet and banjo player Tamás Bényei, Kossuth Prize winner, with whom the band has enjoyed an extremely good friendship for decades.

Founded in 1957, the Benkó Dixieland Band celebrates its 66th birthday this year.
At the concert, the band will revisit the main stages of the past 66 years, the "66 Road", through their most popular tunes. The star guest of the evening will be the leader and trumpet and banjo player of the Hot Jazz Band, Kossuth Prize winner Tamás Bényei, with whom the orchestra has enjoyed an extremely good friendship for decades.
The Benkó Dixieland Band was founded in 1957 by Sándor Benkó (clarinet), a Kossuth and Liszt Ferenc Prize winner, who remained the band's leader until his death in 2015. After his death, Árpád Dennert became clarinettist of the band.
The legendary orchestra is one of the best jazz ensembles in the world and the most popular in Hungary, and their first album was a gold record. Winners of national festivals and competitions, they have received numerous awards. They have performed in front of tens of thousands of listeners and have worked with world stars such as the American Milt Jackson, Freddie Hubbard, Al Grey, Buddy Tate, Joe Newman, Buddy Wachter, Henry Questa, Joe Muranyi, Eddy Davis, Cynthia Sayer, Harry Sweet Edison, Albert Nicholas, Wild Bill Davison, and European Chris Barber, Kenny Ball, Huub Janssen, Acker Bilk, and many others.
The concert is nearly 120 minutes with one intermission.
