Ágoston Trio and Guests: Lakni, lakni 1999

The history of the formation began in Pécs, where Béla Ágoston met Zoltán Szabó on bagpipes and Péter Hárságyi on drums. In 1991, Mecseki Free, which was led together with Hárságyi, was invited several times by Mihály Dresch to the then Dresch Club on Bem rakpart. As a result of his close friendship with the members of the quartet, Ágoston became a member of the Grencsó collective for many years, and for many years he played with Róbert Benkő in the South-Alföld Saxophone Ensemble. Zoltán Szabó's name can also be found on two albums of the world music group Agostones, and the two bagpipers have also shared the stage at concerts of the Pipatórium orchestra. Péter Hárságyi and Péter Hárságyi played in Kampec Dolores for a few years after Mecseki Free, and later Benkő, Grencsó, Hárságyi and Ágoston all appeared in the Budbudas orchestra. These impulses created the basis for the musical material that the group recorded in 1999 under the title Lakni, lakni. The album also features Tibor Virág, who was also present in Pécs and later on the first album of the South-Alföld Saxophone Ensemble. The development of Béla Ágoston's musical career can be followed in Opus ever since, mainly through the performances of two formations, Ágoston QRtet and the Kerub trio. This special concert will feature some Mecseki Free pieces alongside his Lakni, lakni material.
