This fall we return with new ways of being by observing how we are sensing the season.
This practice uses somatic awareness tools that helps us to understand the messages of our bodies so that we can honor how our bodies want to “be” in this season.
During our time together we will meditate on the sensations of our bodies and the body of the garden and explore the communication that is happening between the two.
How are our bodies preparing for winter?
How can it move with its natural impulses?
How can we connect deeper with this transitional season, and understand our bodies in a new way?
This is how we engage with ecosomatics: being aware of the nature within us.
How this works: Through a combination of sitting and movement mediation I will share some somatic tools inspired by the principles of Contact Improvisation and touch practices that you can use to help you connect to your body whenever you feel disconnected.
I use these tools every time the daily stresses of life keep me from feeling present in my body. They help me make better decisions that benefit my life, and the life’s of others. If I can make embodied decisions, i can create embodied relationships with everything around me, from living to non-living.
Most importantly I can learn to trust the space I create within me and around me by simply being.
So why a garden? A place like a climate garden offers us the opportunity to observe nature in its wild untamable habitat right in the middle of a busy city. The goal is not not only call attention to this magical space where plants are free to grow, but to create an intention of presence as we attend to our bodies and create space for nature to remember us.
