Kobza Vajk Group: the rise of Ada Kaleh

For over a decade and a half, Kobza Vajk has been one of the most exciting performers on the Hungarian contemporary oriental and improvisational world music scene. At the intersection of the music of Kobza Vajk Group as a formation is the modal tradition of the Middle East, the freedom of European jazz, the heritage of melodies of the old ages and the desire to explore new paths of the present. His vision is to leave behind genre classification and take music-making to a higher level, born in the present moment, made all the more exciting by unconventional instrumentation and a completely unique sound.

In the concert, Vajk Kobza also draws from his previous albums, while the first notes of the songs to come will be played for the first time here. Their performance is a conscious, unparalleled journey into the unknown that is welcomed as the familiar. Listening to their concert is like listening to Ada Kaleh - the sunken island in the Lower Danube - rising again from the foam.
