Story of Hodorog András
The Csángómagyar flutist from Clézse is an unavoidable master figure of the Hungarian dance-hall movement, who has become a unique virtuoso, a figure similar to the primes, from a village flutist to a community flutist, influenced by the needs of Moldavian dance-halls in the past decades. His musical language is a testimony to his exceptional skills, constantly recreating familiar melodic material, driven by a motivic desire to improvise, playing it in new forms, with new ornamentation and partly improvised motifs. His playing is virtually unlearnable, since no two melodies are ever played in the same way, and only he himself can really adjust himself to the complex maze of his musical instruments and ornamentation.

The 82-year-old master's playing has not lost any of its quality over the years, and even now Uncle András delights the audience with ever better and more exciting melodic variations. In the auditorium of the Hungarian House of Music, the audience will not hear a concert in the classical sense, but rather a musical conversation, during which the most beloved melodies and the most exciting variations of András Hodorog will be played, and we will also hear the stories of his fictional life, the stories of his life that shaped the development of his instrumental playing.
András Hodorog will be accompanied by two of his students, László Németh and Soma Salamon.
