New wave - improvisations on classical music
2025-01-10T18:30:00.000Z
The Chaos String Quartet, composed of Susanne Schäffer (1st violin), Eszter Kruchió (2nd violin), Sara Marzadori (viola) and Bas Jongen (cello), has already experimented with string quartet as a genre and as a formation, and with improvised music: in their project Free the Franz, they performed works by Schubert in a radical reinterpretation together with István Grencsó. This time, they will be joined by one of the most active and respected pianists on the Hungarian jazz scene, Máté Pozsár, to explore together a selection of quartet masterpieces from the Viennese classics (Haydn, Beethoven) to Shostakovich and György Ligeti.

Schedule
One of the five musicians' aims with this concert is to establish the concept and aspirations of the third stream, a stylistic movement that organically combines jazz with classical music, a style that is as yet little known in Hungary. During the performance, composer Samu Gryllus will talk to the performers about this and much more.
Location
House of Music Hungary
A music education centre and concert venue in the heart of the City Park, behind the airy futuristic glass facade of Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto.
