Schedule

If you don't understand any of these questions, or if they just bring back fond memories, this walk is for you:

Have you ever fallen down a brakebit party on the steps of the Merlin?

Has your presence melted like a contrail into the night in the Seventh Ward?

Have you made the seemingly endless journey to climb up to the Müsti when there was an elevator?

A corner? Soda? Soda?

The artisans of Klauzál Square?

Ruined and underground Gozsdu Courtyard?

Alternative theatre, literature, culture, Jewish traditions?

Sunrise in kitsch and cigarette butts on the Corvinus roof?

Was Budapest that much different ten or fifteen years ago? How are cultural-subcultural, value-creating places increasingly marginalised? How can we understand this radical change?

And where has inner-city culture gone?

With our walk, we look back to the early 2000s, to this not so distant past, to our own past, to our own memories and experiences, we would like to see the empty, converted, renamed or demolished buildings of these cultic conglomerates filled with stories, memories, observations, interpretations, so that these evocations can perhaps also give impetus to new endeavours.

meeting at Gerlóczy 13 → Gozsdu courtyard → Király street → Hegedű street → Klauzál square → Somogyi Béla street → at AURORA we will end the event with a glass of wine/beer/lemonade.

⧎ The walk will be led by Gergely Csada

⧎ Length of the walk: 2,5-3 hours

Location

Budapest

The best things to do in Budapest! Several medieval bridges connect the 2 sides of the city that give it its name: Buda and Pest. Cruising along the Danube is a great way to see Budapest in all its glory.
