SANTA HANGOVER: THE GIGIZ/BEAT DIS/PLUTO
THE GIGIZ
Sexy space-grunge singer with male duet. Two bagpipers maybe not, but two singer-guitarists can still fit quite well in a convent - nothing proves this better than the fact that after the Libertines, here is finally a new Hungarian formation with two equally charismatic frontmen leading the band. The Gigiz's answering vocals are paired with a background sound that is both irresistibly melodic and loud, sometimes shoegaze, sometimes stoner indie rock. It's most reminiscent of early Blood Red Shoes, but the many solos and stoner elements make it energetic and a real beating rock sound.
Imre Sziszák and Tibor Nagy are backed on drums by Viktor Csányi, the founder of Korai Öröm, with whom Imre has previously played in Kösz Vitya. They were joined by Tibor Nagy, the ex-frontman of the Nyolcadikosok. Imre and Tibor's dialogue-like lyrics mix chicks and sci-fi, made memorable by sing-along melodies.

BEAT DIS
A unique and, to say the least, indistinguishable experience. Besides the strong dark-electro influences and stone-rock influences, their music is also influenced by folk and mainstream pop. All this is wrapped in harmonies that caress and embrace the audience. The massive sound that defined their first album has evolved over time and breaks open even deeper layers.
Formed in Szombathely in June 2002 under the leadership of Tamás Csigó, they completed their first album, Genetik Gift, by the end of 2003. Zsolt Prieger took care of the coordination of the album, and the band went on a national tour as support act of Anima Sound System. After a seven-year break, the band celebrated its 20th birthday early last year with a new album (Beaten by the Rain) and a series of concerts. Next year they will release a new album, some of the songs from which will be performed at the concert.
The members of the band are Tamás Csigó (vocals/composer/producer), Zoltán Rozmán (drums) and Gábor Gergácz (guitar), Matyi Mohácsi (bass), Gábor Putz (guitar), Juli Szilágyi (keyboards/vocals).
PLUTÓ
A long-active band in the Pest club scene, they have been performing with tireless energy since their complete transformation in 2022. Plutó is the band of former Biorobot co-founder András Nemes and his nephew Janó Nemes, who has been around the hypercarma scene, and who form a power-rock trio with drummer Pali Szirmai. Their sound is completely unique, playing baritone saxophone-baritone-guitar-drums. Pluto released their album "Unknown Hungarian Poet" last autumn. Their music is characterised by both a bouncy rockabilly throb and hard bluesy riffs, reminiscent of the late band Morphine's "low rock" sound. This is complemented by András Nemes' poetic, metropolitan, storytelling lyrics, infused with poetic imagery.
"A band's seventh album rarely changes the world, but the transformed, reborn Pluto has made one of its best, hottest albums with THE UNKNOWN MAGYARIAN COLLECTOR. Baritone saxophone, bohemianism, huge rock and roll, and András Nemes' acerbic, Pest stories." - Recorder.hu (2023)
