EtnoRom 20th anniversary concert
EtnoRom: Bridge of Worlds - Roma World Music
The ensemble was founded in 2005 by József Balog and Ágnes Künstler, a pair of world-famous solo singers of Roma music, from among the virtuosos of Hungarian Roma music. In recent decades, millions of people from Japan to the United States have danced to their songs, and their voice has been hailed as the first "authentic Roma voice" to be heard from Central Europe.
The founding of EtnoRom is a station on the bridge of worlds that brings together past and present, the raw, ancient sound and the explosive world music sound.
EtnoRom's repertoire ranges from authentic Oláh Roma songs to the overwhelmingly dynamic "Roma world music" spiced with swing and jazz: a musical world that boils down gypsy cultures and deeply smouldering emotions into melody and rhythm, intertwined and shaped by the stories of the winding lives of the band leaders, József Balog and Ágnes Künstler. For his musical work, József Balog was made an "Ambassador of Roma Music" by the Order of Blessed Ceferino, the only Christian Roma knighthood in the world, founded in 2011.

Schedule
The ensemble has twice won the Budapest Fringe Festival's top professional prize, and has performed to overwhelming acclaim in Hungary, Austria, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, Finland, Estonia, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Spain, France and the United States.
EtnoRom's first album, which created the concept of "Roma world music", was released in autumn 2006 by Fonó Records under the title "Rományi Luma - Gipsy World".
The second album, "Diri, Diri", which covers a wide emotional spectrum, yet is light and bouncy, was released in spring 2011 by Gryllus Publishing.
Their third album "Roma flavours" was released in Christmas 2016 as an author's edition. The album features 12 brand new songs, all original compositions in the spirit of Roma folklore.
Their fourth album "Kerav tuke muzika/Neked zenélek" was released on Christmas 2023, with 12 new songs, and a special treat is that the traditional songs of the Roma from Orkney were also included. In addition, our own compositions can be heard on this album, which is based on Roma folklore.
