Vojvodina-born violist-singer Jelena Popržan has swept the Austrian scene off its feet with her vitality and nuanced musicality. After her solo show La Folia, she started a new production with a group of Austrian musicians.

She was deeply impressed by the poems of the Polish-Viennese poet Tamar Radzyner (1927-1991), which she found in a booklet published by the Theodor Kramer Society. Radzyner was a Polish Jew who took part in the armed resistance, survived the Holocaust and found a new home in Vienna and the German language. He collaborated with Georg Kreisler and Topsy Küppers, and his poems are a veritable gleam of serene pessimism and bitter wit. Jelena has created a song cycle as a musical tribute, but the bulk of the evening's programme is made up of brand new instrumental compositions, full of imaginative soundscapes and stories written in melody.
