The Tether Trio started as a genre-bending project between two German-born, New York-based musicians, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Theo Bleckmann and internationally acclaimed saxophonist Timo Vollbrecht. Together with Amsterdam-based pianist Harmen Fraanje, they weave together bold improvisations and melody-filled songs, giving the music ample time to breathe, unfold and fill its rightful space.

They create a highly personal sound by enriching the natural and acoustic timbres of their instruments with restrained, tasteful live electronics. After their performance at the 2021 Fajr International Festival in Iran, Bleckmann and Vollbrecht decided to take their incredible chemistry to an even higher level by creating new music. Thus, the Tether Trio was formed: the name refers to the threads of musical ideas that the three freethinking musicians weave together.
