The trans-oceanic couple have a long-term partnership that resists life's changing patterns. They first formed in 2013 when a friend introduced them via email. Christina Wood worked in the Indonesian forest recording demos in her bedroom every night, while Cicely Goulder composed for film productions in London. Despite the miles between them, they found instant musical chemistry.
Kaleida first gained international fame in 2014, when their single Think went viral overnight and was featured on the soundtrack of the cult Keanu Reeves film John Wick. Their debut album, Tear The Roots, arrived in 2017 and crystallised the duo's atmospheric pop aesthetic, which combines Wood's syllabic, operatic vocals with Goulder's neo-noir electronica.
With the album, the duo scored a second spot in the soundtrack, this time for Atomic Blonde, with a tender take on Nena's anti-war classic "99 Luftballons". This was followed in 2020 by the pair's second album, Odyssey, which was hailed as "the ultimate work of electronic art".
Their new album In Arms is a record that leans into an almost transcendent spiritualism, where their minimalist production hides a raw, celestial power. In a departure from their previous insular approach, they invited other musicians into the production process, including producer Johan Hugo (Self Teem, M.I.A, Skepta).
Location
A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
