Willany Leó X ALL STARS / Willany Leó Improvizációs Fesztivál

One of our festival's initiatives is to welcome back, as a reunion of sorts, artists who once upon a time, or even sometime recently, were in some way part of the collective. We will celebrate the fact that we were once a team with a joint performance of just over fifty minutes of open score.

The first Willany Leo appeared in July 2008 at the Tűzraktér on Hegedű Street as part of the underground culture, and interestingly, although initially only short solo and duo etudes were performed at the evenings, word spread quickly around town and crowds attended almost immediately.

When the Tűzraktér closed, or more accurately, when it was on hiatus, the Wednesday night improvisations moved to the Gödör Klub in Erzsébet Square. Perhaps there was a little time to strengthen and find the true face of the initiative. It was also in Erzsébet Square that the decision was taken to limit future performances to 50-minute open scores, a term that was not yet known. The underground culture was flourishing, which in many ways put the collective in a privileged position - but then the Gödör Klub also ceased to exist. Later, it reopened in the King's Passage, but the nightlife in Budapest seemed to be changing, with ups and downs.

For five years, Wednesday night improvisation was on the first floor of the deserted shopping centre, and the team, now completely replaced once again, had risen from a very low point to a very high one when suddenly Wednesday night improvisation became a new phenomenon.

That's when the Workshop Foundation came to the rescue and the evenings moved to Trafó - now five years on.

For this nostalgic trip we would like to invite all our old and new viewers. And to all the dancers who are performing, we thank them for their work in making this three-day festival a reality.
