Tamás Jordán's evening: a list of free ideas
The essay, entitled Free Ideas in Two Sessions, is Attila József's personal testimony about himself, his doubts, his loss.
In May 1936, in the Japanese Café, Attila József put a notebook in front of him and began to write in it. At that time, as a neurotic patient, he was under the care of Edit Gyömrői. A tool still used in psychotherapy today is the analysis of the patient's writings. The task is for the patient to write everything out, to write without stopping, and if nothing else comes to mind, to write words that come to mind from the previous word. Hence the term “free ideas” in the title. In two sittings - because he finished the writing later at home. Attila József confesses with astonishing sincerity, and Tamás Jordán delivers it in an equally astonishing way.
