Meybahar & Tindia concert
The drifting world of Meybahar was born from the meeting of Greek and Hungarian cultures, from the moments when Marilia and Márton first met and played music together on the island of Crete. The captivating sound of the Greek santoor ('santouri' is a cousin of the Hungarian cimbalom) and the violin form a perfect pair. The orchestra is directly inspired by the musical roots of the Aegean Sea and Asia Minor cultures, the ancient Eastern modal musical heritage and the music of today. With a change of instrumental line-up from 2022, the traditional Greek vocal repertoire has been brought to the fore, with the voice of Aphrodite Radis and the ud playing of János Gerzson. The band's latest single Afousis (Fonó-2023) and its music video reflect this new sound, a beautiful deep ballad from the Greek island of Kassos.
This time, the band invites Moldavian musicians Tindia, who have also just released a music video, to join them for a joint evening. Both bands will play solo concerts and perform together on stage. It will be an exciting programme for lovers of Greek and Moldavian folk music.
Tindia
Many a visitor has wandered through the gentle landscapes of the Szeret on their way to Cleja or Răcăciuni to discover Tindia. After a long search, six young people living in Budapest finally found it, far from Moldova and the waters of the Tatros River, somewhere deep inside themselves. The band Tindia started its career in 2015 in a popular Budapest café, where it regularly held Moldavian dance chats and folk pubs. The mysticism of understated femininity and the impetus of blood-pumping Moldavian melodies characterise the band's sound, the essence of which can be heard on their debut album, released in 2021. Make a miracle of it! Pulsating sound, driving momentum and depth beneath the surface.
