Geographical isolation conserves and preserves archaic elements, ancient musical forms in folk music; we can often hear them today, giving us a glimpse into distant times, into musicalities of the past that are different from today's aesthetic ideas. One such island is Sardinia, with its hills and valleys in the middle of the Mediterranean, where the traditional folk polyphony of cantu a tenore probably preserves a musical character that has existed since antiquity.

Schedule

Tenores di Bitti Remunnu e' Locu, one of the most outstanding and authentic forms of Sardinian polyphony on the Unesco World Heritage List, will be the guests of the House of Music. They will bring the ancient strengths of their music to the stage together with Hungarian folk musicians who are well acquainted with the old Hungarian musical tradition, such as Sára Tímár, Lehel Halászi and the duo Balázs Istvánfi - András Németh.

So the concert will actually be a concert of old music. Very, very old music. The concert is also linked to the House of Music's temporary exhibition LISTEN.
