Elmo Nero creates its own playing space on the ground of the evergreen line-up and rich tradition of the classic guitar trio. The band was founded in 2022 by Hans Koller Award-winning bassist-composer Gina Schwarz and guitarist Christoph Helm, who juggles a whole cavalcade of popular music styles. The following year they released their debut album, which was enthusiastically received by audiences and critics alike. In the summer of 2024, the trio was renewed: Max Plattner was replaced by German Jazz Award nominee Mareike Wiening on the drum kit, whose multi-faceted playing brings a whole new light to compositions and improvisations that draw on a wide range of musical influences.
