Rozmán Lajos Quintet: Metszetek

2025-04-09T18:00:00.000Z

The five musicians who make up the quintet are perhaps most united by a sense of quality. Having experienced the countless trends of jazz and classical music, the need to develop their own language and their own sound becomes the most important common programme in this formation.

The intersection of jazz, free playing and the written music tradition is expanding, and the quintet's components meet at more and more points. But not only styles. The increasingly outlined life stories of five musicians, their individual musical characters, their own journeys and shared playing experiences form the unity that the audience can hear and see. Playing over the past year has brought the orchestra many new experiences and fresh perspectives. It is no longer necessarily the new way of playing written, classical material that guarantees the encounter, but rather the shared vision and understanding that is increasingly expressed in free playing. In which, alongside Gábor Gadó's music, the spirit of the greats of tradition can be seen, as if as a watermark: currently, with the evocation of Pierre Boulez, who was born 100 years ago, or Péter Eötvös, who is present with a painful absence.
