Schaerer – Biondini – Kalima – Niggli: A Novel of Anomaly (CH/IT/FI)

2025-04-22T18:00:00.000Z

"Anthem for No Man's Land is our musical sacrifice on the altar of a utopian, inclusive society, a new language of free imagination, unbound by origin or cultural divide. The title of our album is inspired by the ambition to create a body of work that can transcend territorialism, borders and egoism. This is not expressed in an elaborate statement, but rather through the immediacy and richness of emotion of our music, which we want to express to the audience. We want not only to stand up for freedom, but to live it in our music - with you, dear listener."

The quartet's gatherings, which have found each other from all over Europe, are more a ritual celebration of freedom than a traditional concert. Their intense sound, honed over more than a decade of working together, mixes archaic Alpine influences, unadulterated Italian flavours, psychedelic rock and polyrhythms from the musical practices of ancient communities, with explosive interplay and passionate improvisations. Born from a wild mix of unexpected twists and crazy soundscapes, the music is sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sometimes completely out of tune - but always different from what you'd expect. The band's new album, Anthem For No Man's Land, will be released by ACT in spring 2025.
