Only The Poets are preparing for their first solo show in Budapest.
The British band have already proven what a party they can throw before Yungblud, and now it's their chance to enjoy their catchy indie pop songs in a solo show on 29 April, on board the A38 Ship.
Only The Poets formed in Reading in 2017, so the guys' taste in music has been influenced by their parents' record collection and of course the famous Reading Festival, especially the Arctic Monkeys' first headline show. Although the boys could only dream of similar success at first, years of hard work have brought them the recognition they coveted: at first they only played in small pubs to a few people, and then pub gigs and open mic appearances were slowly replaced by proper clubs and opening acts.
Soon, their first solo UK tour arrived. According to the guys, these times were important in their lives, as they always went out after the small gigs to meet members of the audience.

Thanks to the post-concert meetings, they quickly found a loyal fan base, which has been growing ever since, and has continued to support the band. While the Covid closures did break the momentum of the band on the road, they used the break to keep in touch with each other through headphones and figure out how to make their music sound best on record. Their song Waking In The Dark, written by Tommy Longhurst (vocalist, guitarist) about a difficult time, is a reflection of this period and a way of giving others something to hold on to. The guys didn't want to lose the energy they had before Covid, so they held regular video listening parties during the closures, introducing their fans to their new songs. And once they were finally out, they were ready to not only take over the clubs of England, but also make their debut in Europe. In 2022, almost 25,000 tickets were sold for their shows.
In 2023 they were signed by Virgin EMI Records, giving the band a new boost. The members of Only The Poets have performed for Lous Tomlinson and Lewis Capaldi, among others, and have played at festivals such as Lollapalooza Paris and Reading Festival. They also performed in Budapest in 2024 as guests of Yungblud and will return next year with a solo tour. Only The Poets' irresistible tunes will be heard on 29 April at the A38 Ship.

A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
