David Almond

David Almond is one of the most exciting representatives of contemporary literature for young people, winner of numerous awards (Hans Christian Andersen Award, Whitbread Prize, etc.). His novels explore the coming-of-age period from a whole new perspective, breaking with all parental agendas and honestly confronting how one's wild, instinctive and conscious self meets in the human being. It asks questions about everything from migration to aggression to the phenomena that surround us, while also exploring whether freedom, rebellion and the rule-bound world of everyday life are incompatible.
