Attila Dargay's third hit fairy tale film, Szaffi, is set in the final days of the Turkish occupation. Jónás Botsinkay, a nobleman raised among gypsies, and Szaffi, a basalt girl raised by a witch (and her cat of the same name) fall in love on an adventurous journey.
The romantic story, typical of the Dargay tales, abounds with endearing animal characters and parodic, laugh-out-loud dialogue. The dubbing is now cult.
