Jazz Migration | [NA] (FR)

[Na], the chemical element of fervent disobedience, is what Selma Namata Doyen, Rémi Psaume and Raphaël Szöllösy are experimenting with in their laboratory. Their sounds are shaped as much by the lyricism of traditional Mande music as by electronic drone music. The band was originally formed for a tribute concert to The Ex and Getatchew Mekurya's Moa Anbessa album; the Ethiopian master's unique wind style, the rhythmic power of the Dutch band's post-punk and the geographically transnationality of musical forms have permeated their repertoire ever since. Their compositions seek not only to carry on this heritage, but also to find fierce expressions for the poetry of work, human perseverance and unwavering friendship. Their first EP, recorded in the legendary barn of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, was released in May 2023.
