VII Óbuda World Music Week in Kobuci Garden!

This time we are screening a documentary film by György Szomjas and Béla Halmos. The portrait film commemorates János Zerkula, the great Gypsy Gypsy Csángó primus of Gyimes, one of the last representatives of classical folk music. The blind musician played the violin with a fifth (resonant) string, sang to it and was accompanied by his wife Regina Fikó on the percussion. In addition to presenting the archaic Gyimes music and dances with their unique sound, the suggestive film shows the beauty of the Gyimes Valley landscape and the living conditions of the people who lived there through the unique life story of Zerkula, both historically and ethnographically.
