The agreements reached at the meeting of three of the most important rulers of the Central European region, King John of Bohemia, King Casimir of Poland and King Charles I of Hungary, and the Teutonic Knights, still have an impact today.
It is no coincidence that the Visegrad Pact, now known as the V4, was signed in 1991 within the walls of the Royal Palace of Visegrad, and now promotes cooperation between the countries of Central Europe. The Visegrad International Palace Games is Hungary's oldest historical festival, hosting outstanding traditional groups from ten countries in Europe, in addition to the Carpathian Basin.
Together with them, nearly a thousand costumed actors come to Visegrád on the second weekend of July every year to recall the most glorious historical event of the former royal seat. For three days, visitors are welcome to our programmes, which take place in four venues - the jousting arena, the Royal Palace, the Park Stage and the Solomon Tower - from morning till late evening.
