These young Budapest musicians, known as Glencz, weren’t simply brought together by the spring breeze—or maybe they were? Since March 2023, they’ve been passionately working, blending Hungarian folk music, rock, psychedelia, and funk, among many other influences.

This six-member band draws inspiration from a wide range of sources: classical music, the wildness of the ’70s, classical and fusion jazz, world music, and even traditional home melodies.

At the heart of this kaleidoscope lies folk music, shaping their concept much like Eastern traditions, where modern music stays close to folk motifs.

The band’s name is inspired by this idea—or maybe not? Is Glencz a French word adapted into Hungarian? The unbearable lightness of being, in Sanskrit? The number nine, but only in dialect? The band unanimously refuses to answer these questions, citing suspicion as their reason.
