Vavra Júlia: COLD-BLOODED MARE, A hidegvérű kanca (munkacím)

Whips crack, soccer balls spin, horses gallop, the wind howls, and darkness envelops the landscape. The news plays softly in the background. Muscular male bodies strain in front of Parliament. Jesus crucified on the cross flashes. Blood splatters. In the distance, I can already hear the clatter of hooves. Soon, the cold-blooded mare will arrive." (Júlia Vavra)

Choreographer Júlia Vavra is preparing a new performance with the support of the Staféta program. COLD-BLOODED MARE is a horror-themed musical dance performance that draws on and haunts the complex systems of Hungarian national identity and folk culture. Júlia Vavra's creative partners are lighting designer Júlia Mohácsi, musician Áron Porteleki, and visual artist Luca Petrányi, who is responsible for the visuals.

Júlia Vavra is a freelance contemporary dancer, performer, and choreographer living in Budapest. She studied contemporary dance at the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy and choreography at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam. She currently works as a performer and choreographer in Hungarian and international productions.
