Fire! (SE)
One of Scandinavian jazz's most prominent figures, Mats Gustafsson, does not like complicated names: he has already performed at the A38 Ship with his band The Thing, and now his other purposeful formation, Fire! is coming. We have already seen and heard two members of the trio, the aforementioned Gustafsson and drummer/percussionist Andreas Werlin, on the ship (the latter as part of the duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums, which he formed with his wife). Now they are bringing Tape founder Johan Berthling with them, with whom they formed Fire! in 2009, the most "listener-friendly" formation among Gustafsson's bands.
The idea for the trio came from renowned Swedish concert organizer Conny Lindström, and the three musicians gladly accepted the gig, which consisted of completely trashing a small Stockholm restaurant with the pure tools of free jazz, i.e., sound pressure and shocking solos—in any case, the audience thoroughly enjoyed it, so Fire! continued to operate.

A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
