Kornél and Rudi can neither separate nor cling to each other. Kornél loses Rudi, and desperately clings to him until he wins him back in a kiss, then Rudi loses Kornél, and desperately clings to him until they find each other again in another kiss and in the love frenzy of separation and belonging. This would be the synopsis of the two major scenes from Vőlegény, which in our performance becomes a kind of prose poem for two voices, set to music and a kind of beautiful prose poem.
