The Japanese extreme art music project from Osaka called Violent Magic Orchestra fuses genres, styles, and subcultures such as techno, black metal, industrial, noise, and gabber. If anything deserves the label “post-”, it might just be this.
Experiencing their live show is disorienting in the best way—it blurs the line between a concert and an art performance. Sónar Festival described them as “the most extreme live act at Sónar 2024,” while Fact Magazine calls them simply a “beloved black metal supergroup.”
