Born in Sweden to parents who were Argentine political refugees, José González went on to become one of the prominent singer/songwriters of the Swedish pop music wave of the ’00s, distinguished by his refined classical guitar playing and acoustic style, which also reveals hints of indiepop and bossa nova, as well as his philosophical lyrics. His 2003 debut album, Veneer, found immediate success in his native country, a feat he repeated on the international stage with a stripped-down cover of the song Heartbeats, originally by the Swedish electropop band The Knife. His output so far consists of four solo albums and two others by his introspective indie folk and folktronica duo Junip. At his next Hungarian solo concert, he will delight the Müpa Budapest audience with his delicate fingerstyle guitar work and gently intimate vocal style.
