Chromesthesia is the most musical form of synesthesia, or sensory association, in which the sounds heard evoke impressions of color, shape, or movement in the listener. This is the basis of Antoine Berjeau's new project: the trumpeter explores the common vibrations of sounds and colors by using concepts and techniques typical of the visual arts in his compositions. He plays with contrasts and nuances as well as with scales and harmonies, tracing melodies in a world in constant motion. The album Chromesthesia was released in 2022 as a follow-up to the highly successful Moving Cities, produced by Makaya McCraven. The band leader is joined by such luminaries of the French jazz scene as Csaba Palotaï, this year's resident artist at the Vive le Jazz festival.
