Suicide and the desire to commit suicide is still a crazy taboo, a difficult condition to accept, even for those who live in privileged circumstances. Those who are insightful, well-fed, young and talented, like Esther Greenwood. Sylvia Plath's cult novel is a devilishly accurate account of alienation.
