New Jazz from Finland | Kannaste4 (FI)

Jussi Kannaste's quartet performs the Finnish saxophonist's own compositions, which represent a personal style of contemporary jazz while also drawing on avant-garde expressions. As one of the leading figures on the Finnish jazz scene, Kannaste has participated in numerous projects during his more than two-decade-long career (Antti Lötjönen Quintet East, 3TM, Jaska Lukkarinen Trio, Ricky-Tick Big Band), but his first album as bandleader was a long time coming: In April 2025, We Jazz Records released Out Of Self and Into Others, whose mature, sometimes quietly whispering, sometimes fiercely swinging material has already far surpassed the usual role of debut albums.
