Nagy Emma Quintet

The Artisjus Award-winning Emma Nagy Quintet represents a new generation of modern, contemporary jazz. Their sound is fundamentally shaped by a spirit of experimentation; their compositions feature equal emphasis on hard drum grooves, free improvisation, song-like contemporary compositions, and other unique musical solutions. Their music is characterized by contrasts and dissonance, improvisation and diversity, joy and melancholy, a contemporary attitude to life and a grotesque, raw style of expression, behind which a kind of dreamlike charm shines through. However, this diversity is not an end in itself, but serves to take the band to the deepest layers of chamber music on stage. In October 2025, their fifth album will be released: with Altered States, which focuses on emotions and moods, the band ventures deeper into the world of light music than ever before, while retaining its unique edge and character.
