What could be a more beautiful gift a week before Christmas than a three-part oratorio, unknown in Hungary, which tells the story of a little-discussed period in the life of Jesus, the childhood of the Savior? Hector Berlioz worked on the composition between 1850 and 1854, which deals with the episode in the life of Jesus when the Holy Family fled to Egypt. The concert by the National Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Choir will be conducted by György Vashegyi, who is committed to promoting French musical culture, with internationally renowned singers Cyrille Dubois, Anna Dowsley, Lysandre Châlon, and Thomas Dolié as soloists in The Childhood of Christ.

The National Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Choir have performed many exciting and innovative productions in recent years. Under the baton of chief music director György Vashegyi, they are now preparing to present another special treat, namely Hector Berlioz's grand three-part oratorio, The Childhood of Christ, at the National Philharmonic's traditional Christmas concert. The composer wrote the work between 1850 and 1854, based on his own text, which is based on the episode of the Holy Family's flight to Egypt.

There is a peculiar story behind the first performance of one of the pieces. Berlioz, who had often experienced personal animosity and malice throughout his career, presented a later movement of the composition, which was considered a precursor to the oratorio, under a pseudonym, and those who were passionate opponents of his art welcomed the music of the "unknown 17th-century composer, Ducré."
