Giacomo Puccini: Triptych
Few composers can portray the joys, desires, and sufferings of everyday people with such compassion and complex realism as Giacomo Puccini.
Whether it is greed, grief, loneliness, or revolution, thanks to his musical portrayal, we feel everything in our gut, even if we have no personal experience of the situation.
Puccini's Il trittico comprises three one-act operas linked by a common theme: death.
Il tabarro shows the side of death related to love and jealousy. Perceived and real danger, betrayal, and forbidden love lead to death caused by overheated emotions and passion.
In Sister Angelica (Suor Angelica), we experience the unpredictable side of death, which befalls our heroine in community, repentance, and purification.
Is there absolution and forgiveness?
Gianni Schicchi perhaps presents the most prosaic side of death. A family mourning the loss of their wealthy relative, in their greed they almost completely forget about death, but the real twist (of course) awaits them at the very end.

Location
A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
