The Pál Utcai Fiúk (Boys from Pál Street) were formed in the summer of 1983 in Szigetszentmiklós by a group of friends and schoolmates. The band grew out of a garage in Szigetszentmiklós to become a nationally known band that has been performing for 25 years. The band, which was formed from a group of street kids who chose their instruments by tossing coins, released their first album in 1990, followed by a steady stream of albums until 1994: Ha jön az álom (When the Dream Comes), Bál (Ball), A nagy rohanás (The Great Rush), Szerelemharc (Love Fight), Szajhák (Whores) and Partizánok (Partisans). By this time, PUF was already a star band, giving solo concerts at the Budapest Sports Hall. Following a change in line-up, the momentum that had lasted for years began to wane, and in the second half of the 1990s, the band returned from the big stage to the dim light of clubs. PUF continued to perform actively, and after further line-up changes that brought new creative energy, the album Ha jön élet (When Life Comes) was released in 2000, marking the coming of age of the now 18-year-old band. After a year-long break following their 20th anniversary, the band began creating and performing again, until they finally returned to the studio in the spring of 2008. In 2008, the 25-year-old Pál Utcai Fiúk band opened a new chapter in their history with fresh energy and momentum with their album Legelő. The lively, fast-paced, yet at times lyrical work once again raises the PUF flag high. The band, now 35 years old, spent the past year mainly touring, but of course they did not stop writing songs, which are being released one after another in preparation for the next album
Location
A38 Ship
Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
