Paul Beckett

He has maintained a long-standing collaboration with the Hungarian composer Márton Illés, who lives in Germany. Alongside Illés’s solo viola composition Psychogramm I – “Jajgatós”, the program includes Prologue by the French spectralist composer Gérard Grisey, as well as a new work by the Hungarian composer and violist Péter Tornyai, written especially for Paul Beckett and entitled Schwanengesänge (Swan Songs).With this program—rich in both content and variety—we hope to contribute to a wider appreciation of the rarely heard gems of contemporary viola music.
