The Greek gods condemned Sisyphus to roll a boulder up a mountain in the underworld forever, only to have it roll back down again and again. His story is thus a symbol of human perseverance and struggle – both tragic and uplifting. The archetype of Sisyphus lives in all of us: as ordinary people and as creators, we often feel as if we are running the same circles endlessly throughout our lives. On this album, Bootsie offers a contemporary paraphrase of the myth of Sisyphus, suggesting that we realize we have no choice but to keep going, because this is our craft, our destiny, and it is what keeps us alive – whether it be a calling, a duty, or a "whim."

The new album, Atlas of Sisyphus, is timeless material born in its own universe: a cool and elegant, emotionally rich record. The pieces were not created in the spirit of over-engineered perfection – heavy, industrial textures intertwine with delicate, meditative melodies, often in an improvisational manner. The songs feature stark, machine-like abstract rhythms alongside floating tones and deliberately slipping drums, while the sound samples are consciously raw and dirty. The album is accompanied by a kind of "ethereal industrialism": with control relinquished, the sounds simultaneously build massive walls and soaring atmospheres.
