Balaton Method (2015), guest: Szimler Bálint
The film, which is just under 80 minutes long, is essentially the "conclusion" of the 2012 Kodály Method: while the former features well-known bands – including Žagar, Akkezdet Phiai, Erik Sumo Band, the Volkova Sisters, Turbo, and Elefánt – feature a series of music videos in the traditional sense (in the audiovisual project by director Bálint Szimler and cinematographer Marcell Rév, sound and image are created at the same moment), while Balaton Method features eighteen Hungarian bands – including Quimby, Middlemist Red, Elefánt, Bin-Jip, and Subscribe – can be seen and heard. What's more, two of them – Punnany Massif and Akkezdet Phiai – composed new songs specifically for this occasion. Balaton Method is also the first Hungarian film to be made with crowdfunding.

After the fresh Anglo-Saxon music films of spring 2025 and the three full-length documentaries of autumn 2025, Hungarians are once again the focus of Rockfilmklub's spring 2026 lineup. To kick things off, we will be showing an animated film for adults based on real events (Blue Pelican). In March, we will screen Ott torony (a portrait film about Mihály Víg), a defining figure of the Hungarian underground scene in the early 1980s, a laid-back, funny character who is aware of his own limitations, does not deny the dark side of his personality, but is able to look at his fate with satisfaction.
